Hi folks,
Saw the new glossy front page this afternoon. Very clean and tidy in my opinion. the back office boys must have been busy recently, so a big thank you to them all.

I agree - it looks nice.
However I've noticed that my browser shows the page with no styles whatsoever for a fraction of a second before the proper fully CSS'd page is shown. I'm running Firefox 17.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.8.2. It may not be a major problem - I guess it's partly coz the CSS is very big and the browser has a lot of work to do, and maybe partly because there's some code detecting what sort of browser and platform it is and selecting a different CSS appropriately.

I go along with that except the router functions quite normally with Win 7 etc., (yes I know that the Belkin address is 192.168.2.1, the other one is for the old BT 210 Voyager that I had from PN all those years ago !!), and the change occurred on the day that the new web page was introduced. I am checking the update situation with FF and some other things on the Dell that might have caused the problem. Note that I created the Post #7 using the Dell which shows that parts do in fact work. Delving continues.
Must not ruffle PN feathers too much!!

It looks nice and clean, however the css is far too big. 220kb which has to be downloaded and parsed is incredulous (the biggest I've seen before is 85k, and that was a mess!). It is a shame the Modernizr doesn't support deffered loading or being placed out of the header (it's grown into a bit of a beast lately). Oh and there's a fair bit of inline javascript that doesn't need to be there.
You're Welcome.
I am giving this a bit of a bump. Since posting this I have been enjoying the new Front Page on my laptop.for months but my XP machine seldom sees it, It usually sticks to the original version with the banner colourful display with the happy chap asking me to try Broadband etc., The relevance of this is that the Win 7 laptop, after a catastrophic total crash (now restored), has joined the XP machine in displaying the same Front Page. My browser Firefox solemnly loads www.plus.net in the bar each time and even if I manually choose the URL from another post it also does not give me the correct display. It has been suggested that there must be a corruption somewhere in my software but I do not see why the change of the satisfactory performance of the Win 7 machine could happen. I do not believe that this "new" page never existed or has it been withdrawn from service coincidentally with the crash of Win 7?

I have looked at the Plusnet front page at www.plus.net on several devices and it always looks the same. There is always the "Happy Chap" in one of three banner displays at the top of the page. On some devices these three images scroll around 'automatically', changing every five seconds or so. On my tablet I refused permission for the page to run some add-on and this seemed to remove the automatic image rotation, although it could still be done manually.
Colintivy, my conjecture is that what you thought was the new Front Page design was actually some anomalous rendition of that page caused by a fault on your Windows 7 machine or a fault on Firefox or possibly a Firefox add-on. So you now see on all your machines what the rest of us have always been seeing. So, in effect, the new page never existed for anyone other than yourself on one computer.
