login to portal taking 40 seconds plus or it fails

Thanks for good service, especially now we're on 21CN with much better speeds - you've no idea how good 5Mb/s feels to me after what I've been used to before!
However, can anyone tell me why portal.plus.net always seems to take an age to connect to? it's by far the longest wait of any site I visit regularly. Seems strange to me. Thanks javascript:void(0);

It's been the slowest site I use for the last 10 years so I wouldn't expect any change!

Took me 2 minutes to get in just now, only to find as a home phone customer I'd be charged for calls to CSC Tech support on Thursday afternoon

Try stopping it and then retry a couple of seconds later.
Especially if you've got so far as the login page and the login hangs. Seems to need the reminder of what its doing!
This usually works for me, though not always...

Ummm, yes, that's what I do frequently when that happens, the 2 minutes included several retries like that!

12 secs isn't as long as some here but the main Members centre is still slower than most websites I use. Any update on a fix yet?

Opera 11.64, finding that login is taking a good 40 seconds if it doesn't fail.

Seeing the same thing and navigating to another page such as View My Usage just sits there for ages before connecting

Portal login doesn't seem much slower to me - perhaps a terrible 30 seconds instead of the very poor 20 we usually get.

Its usually instant for me and all around the portal is slow today. I was trying to see if my exchange was flagged on PN's system for FTTC yet as samknows shows a live date, but the checker times out and other pages take a good 40-60 seconds to load..

Took me 5 or 6 attempts to get in 'Internet Explorer Cannot Display The Webpage', eventually made it though, then took a coupleof attempts to get into MVBU.

Where have we heard that before? I know, for the past ten years or so. It really is a disgrace for an ISP to have such a poor web site.

I'd not at all be surprised if the reason was that the front facing PN servers are stuck using the same ageing mysql servers as ccgi.
This would explain the 3P and the unwillingness to update, after all a limping website is better than a dead one.
(Dropping the bloated hog that is apache would also help, but that's a whole different can o' worms)

Well we do have some internal slowdowns at the moment and it's not beyond the realms of possibility that that could be affecting the portals as well. I'm sorry if you don't think it's acceptable for it to run slowly, I don't necessarily agree that that makes it 'such a poor web site' or 'a disgrace' though. If you've any suggestions for improvements to the site itself we'd be happy to take them on board and look at incorporating them.
