    <description>Firstly guys, apologies for the hassle this is causing you all. The cause of the problem and the resulting issues it created meant that this wasn't a simple case of failing between data centres. In fact a number of services &lt;I&gt;were&lt;/I&gt; failed over following the first outage (yesterday afternoon), however there was database corruption and other such issues which meant that manual intervention was required to get some things back up and running.&lt;BR /&gt;To my knowledge we're talking about a localised power failure combined with a faulty contactor at one of the two Sheffield data centres we have, however I will confirm this once I have the full picture. We're still running off back-up power and part of the problem recovery is dependent on replacement hardware that isn't expected until later on today.&lt;BR /&gt;There are still a number of residual problems we're working to resolve. I'm personally aware of the following customer-facing elements...&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;UL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;S&gt;Service Status/Usertools RSS feed is broken&lt;/S&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Access to both new and old Webmail platforms is problematic and the latter may return database errors when trying to log in&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;S&gt;The Community Site may be slow to respond or time-out when trying to log in&lt;/S&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;S&gt;Webstats hasn't run for yesterday&lt;/S&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;S&gt;Missing pictures/problems uploading to Community&lt;/S&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;S&gt;Inbound email delays&lt;/S&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Faz-2-Email is down&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Delayed billing for anybody due to have a payment taken/processed today&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color:white;"&gt;.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If anybody is having persistent/intermittent problems with any other services as of 10.00am this morning then please do shout up so I can make sure nothing is being overlooked.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BLOCKQUOTE&gt;&lt;TABLE&gt;&lt;TBODY&gt;&lt;TR&gt;&lt;TD&gt;Quote from: kdiment&lt;/TD&gt;&lt;/TR&gt;&lt;TR&gt;&lt;TD&gt;In my innocence I thought that if Sheffield went down then services would still be available from London, and vice versa, and that was the main advantage of operating from two widely-spaced locations.&lt;BR /&gt;Clearly, if that was the intention, then it doesn't work.       <description>@Oldjim&lt;BR /&gt;This looks a little random - in Outlook / Windows Live Mail - I have 3 PN accounts, some work others do not.&amp;nbsp; I cannot logon to the user portal, nor can I establish a connection to the webmail home page.&lt;BR /&gt;I suspect a complex problem here, no notice on the service page - if anyone has a hot line in to PN today, would be good to get them post a very visible awareness notice... their (understandably) limited CS service today will by now be flooded with phone calls...!&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

I also cannot access either betawebmail.plus.net or webmail.plus.net and was having trouble with Outlook Express though that's just connected about five minutes ago - however down again now&lt;BR /&gt;Unhelpfully PlusNet Assist keeps kicking in, but tries to fix the problem wrongly - since it can't find my account and then wants to create one for me.       <description>These problems are why my email accounts are web based, accessed POP by Apple Mail, and also auto forward all emails to other separate accounts, including PlusNet, so if there is a problem with one I have "backups" in my other accounts.&lt;BR /&gt;Other ISP's have similar problems too occasionally, hence the above.&lt;BR /&gt;Two of my backup services also allow me to reply to and send emails as if from my main account addresses, very useful.&lt;BR /&gt;(Apple Mail POP and Orange)</description>

      <description>Seems to be as bad as ever - just been asked for my e-mail password again. &lt;BR /&gt;And this time the main plusnet page is down, and so is the service status page.&lt;BR /&gt;The first report was for this to have been sorted a while back (like, by 5.30pm) - is there any news?&lt;img class="lia-deferred-image lia-image-emoji" src="https://community.plus.net/html/@3681646702FDFD32BCA97E2E5F1BDDD5/images/emoticons/huh.gif" alt="Huh" title="Huh" /&gt;</description>

      <description>IMAP and POP3 both seem OK now (for the moment). SMTP isn't.</description>
