Forum Mods

Something just struck me after seeing an earlier post that has been removed this morning.
Is there a mod "on duty" 24/7 ?
If no mod cover say between midnight and 7am then given the correct mix of logged in users
the forum could degrade into a free for all with accusations and insults flying in all directions.

Sadly I went to bed at 2.30am so just missed said thread, damned IRC quiz / work
As mods are customers like yourself it's unrealistic that someone will be on 24/7.
Thankfully these occurrences are few and far between.

I take your point.
But some recent posts and attitudes recently have left a bad taste in my mouth.
Would it be possible for some of the PN night staff to pop in occasionally to make sure everyone is behaving.

The whole point of customers doing it is for impartiality.
If there was a desperate need PN have ways of getting in touch with us.

the posts were there for just under 5 hours and probably before most people read it, aside from the hardcore like yourself
As far as I can see it was handled in a timely and responsible manner from our side of things.

The staff don't moderate the forums and the night staff would be unlikely to get the time available to come and check out the forum to see if anything is occurring. I think the rarity of problems on this forum shows what a good job the mods do here and I'd like to thank them for that.

Adie - i certainly wouldn't call myself hardcore. I just pop in and out a couple of times a day.
I agree that forum is best moderated by non PN staff.
Would a mod care to PM me advising what action has been taken or is this request out of order.
Agreed that these incidents are thankfully few and far between but when they happen stern action is required.

Not wishing to be awkward but I didn't login till round 8am which I would not call early.
The posts were still there but i cannot remember how many views they had had.
I was too shocked by the content

Out of curiosity are you all referring to a post that was made about a certain private message? The moderator's are only human and do a really good job so cut them some slack.

I'm not - I'm referring to the time that somebody reported a post.
The contents of said post are unknown to me (although I have a suspicion that I could make an accurate guess (sadly)

I reported it about 7, went out just after 8.30, Strat had removed it when I got back about 10:00, As I said No mods on when I checked, But Hey they do have to eat breakfast, Just Checked Google, they didnt get it

At no point have i had a pop at the mods. They do an excellent job.
I am however only trying to point out a "black hole" in that if there are no mods online late at night then all hell could break loose
if someone was of a mind to do so.
No i did not report the post as guy arrived early to fix my heating system. (plumber and early in same sentence ? I know)

I just wondered, since I suspect that at least a couple of our lovely mods will receive notification on a mobile device when a post is reported, and as such I would have thought that had a post been reported, it would have been picked up pretty early on in the days (given the hours some of them keep )
But if nobody tells them, they would just have breakfast etc, go to work, and then log on there to take a look as normal with a coffee.
Just a thought.

I will take a wild guess that a post i read in the early hours must of got out of hand, If it's what i think it is and i cant find the said thread anymore then there was nothing i could of reported at the time of seeing the thread.

If as strat says mods were notified early am by PN staff why did it take till 10am to remove very offensive material
