How can PN disable an account which does not exist??

I received this email today:
This advance notice is to let you know that a payment of £18.75, for your
Metronet Internet account will soon be taken, on or after 23/02/2010. This
email is for your information only, as no action is necessary on your part
to complete this payment.
Please note - It is important that your payment details are valid and you
have enough funds in your account on 23/02/2010 as failure to do so will
result in your Metronet Account account being disabled.
Only problemis, I'm no longer with Plusnet.

Seems as though my hunch about PN screwing up was correct. BTW, DD has been cancelled and credit card details are bogus, just in case.

It looks as though the account wasn't shut down correctly after you moved out. I'll wait for the payment to fail (as the details are bogus) and then close it.

I got this reply to my ticket query:

Thank you for your query. We do not appear to have had a cancellation request from you regarding this account, please contact us on 08451406002 and we can arrange this for you.

As PN gave me my MAC and it was successfully used to transfer elsewhere I shall not be ringing 08451406002 but will just wait according to your last post.

Don't worry about calling the number, I'll sort it out once the payment has failed.
I'll also go and find the educator and make sure whoever replied to that ticket reads things in future.
