0800 call blocked, can't use credit card

Trying to help my mother place an online order and when it came to payment it asked for additional authentication.

Done this before, the card company phones and gives an authentication code, type in the code ... done

BUT

This time there is no call.

I contacted the card co and apparently the call is made from an 0800 number and some phone providers block calls from 0800. Is that the case for Plusnet?

If it is, it's anew development and I would doubt it. One for the SU's , I think?

The provider blocking the call would be draconian… I’m more inclined to wonder if there is call minder on the line and that number has been blocked “accidentally”.

I'm not aware of any number blocking feature.

I'm only going off of what I was told.

FWIW we tried again and it worked. Could have been random IT problems.
