"My question is I read a comment about some providers having an issues porting a "ceased number", has anyone had this experience with say Andrews & Arnold?"

Funny you should ask that, there is another thread running on here at the moment:

I'm going to bite the bullet and migrate to FTTP as its available, I want to port the number to Andrews & Anrold I am happy with that.

My question is I read a comment about some providers having an issues porting a "ceased number", has anyone had this experience with say Andrews & Arnold?

I plan to do the migration and then once that is live request the port from A&A into my existing account do I need to do anything else to cause least disruption except for the downtime in between the number been ported?

I don't want to loose my landline number (well my Dad's) and will be going through a similar process with a friend who uses the number for work when its their turn.

@matthewleggott

A&A are one of the providers who can handle "ceased lines" though you often have to phone their Support to get things going. In days gone past their automatic system for porting numbers would fail requiring a phone call to support but I believe that may have changed. I would not use One Touch Switching for this.

As you say, you don't start the port until your FTTP is fully up and running.

There is, however, a current thread running with a port to A&A is failing for unknown reasons though this is on a SOGEA file.

No issues rining them, one reason why I picked them for their support, already have voice services with them.

My current line is FTTC so shouldn't be an issue, voice is still on the copper.
