topic SOGEA and VOIP in Home Phone

I'm finding this whole thing a mess about who does what when the grand switch over happens. We're not expecting FTTP until sometime in 2026 now

It seems to me that PN are basically saying "You're on your own - go sort it out for yourself"

But Offcom say this

Your provider should arrange to supply the equipment needed to keep your main telephone connected

If you need any new equipment to make your main telephone work – for example, a new router, new telephone handset or if you need a new broadband service installed, your provider will arrange this.

https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/future-of-landline-calls

Which sort of implies that PN should offer a working solution - even if that's just a managed migration to a BT/EE sevice.

That might apply if PN offered a phone service - they no longer do and are withdrawing from the phone market gradually.

You can move to BT FOC if you want to keep a phone service but at BT prices.

If you want to stay with PN and keep a phone you need to consider independant VOIP providers.

Migration to BT BB + Digital voice is the PN migration strategy if you do not want to do it yourself. With the BT solution your existing phone should work by plugging into the back of the BT router.
