Had full fibre installed on 4th July, everything went smooth. The phone line was not taken away and it still works. I was under the impression the line would be removed and i would have to go to VOIP. When does the phone line get removed, who is paying for it and why is there a severe lack of communications to get this resolved?

It can take a few days for the phone line to go dead ( if it does at all ). Providing your received confirmation from Plusnet, that the change to Full Fibre has completed, then you're safe to start the number port.

Been given no details how to transfer, who to go to, when to go there, nothing.

I'm afraid you need to sort out a voip provider yourself, they will then provide the details on how to port.

If you dont make many calls out, and just need a PAYG tariff then I'd suggest looking at A & A https://www.aa.net.uk/voice-and-mobile/voip-information/

Hi, can I just ask how long was it from ordering Full Fibre to you getting it installed and activated on 4th July? I know it depends where you are in the UK but I've read some people have had to wait 6 weeks for Openreach to come and install / set up.

To a certain extent all installs are different so there is no defined install window. Many things can delay an install even if no problems are expected at the property - eg lack of staff on the day or staff getting diverted to deal with a major incident.

First think to do is to check the following

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

On the line showing WBC FTTP what does it say to the right - you don't want to see KCI2?

Below the results window what does the narrative say about the FTTP install?

I ordered the full fibre to specifically be installed on 4th, because i was coming to end of contract on 16th, and i knew it could take up to 10 days to install, so i ordered it about mid June. Found the 4th was available and booked for that. Had to wait about 2 weeks, but the install was fast, about 2 hours, and it was on almost instantly. Drilled the hole, put the box in, and it was all done professional. The only problem i had was i didn't have a spare Ethernet cable to the modem, but they provided one as a courtesy, which i was thankful for. I have since got a new CAT8.1 cable and damn it fast.

So far so good. The Checker is not showing any anticipated problems. All you can do now is place an order and hope for the best time wise.

You can upgrade to FTTP at any time during your PN contract. It simply requires a new contract to be started.

Regarding A+A, i contacted them and they were super helpful and fast. Asked how it all works and went ahead with the contract. Everything is good. Managed to save and port the old phone number to the new system without too much fuss.

I had to order their product, it's like a mini modem and a base unit. It it a little expensive, but you get quality, not quantity. As far as i'm aware, you will need 2 spare power sockets. 1 for the mini modem, and 1 for the base unit to power the phone. You might need spare sockets for each base unit, if you order more than 1.

Other than that, it's straight forward and easy, they send the equipment with your old phone number already assigned to it, so it's plug it in and use from the box. Instead of a phone line, you use an ethernet cable and plug that into a spare socket on your modem that has broadband. It is all really easy to set up, if i can do it, anyone can
