Yup, @outcast , I meant to say that but got distracted. That way, although the OP will be paying the OOC price for a short time - possibly - BT will owe them, rather than them owing BT.

It would be useful to know what service they currently have, and what service they intend to sign up to PN for?

I’m looking to move from BT to Plusnet but my current contract does not expire until March 20.

Can I sign up now in preparation or will plusnet attempt to take over the line as soon as I sign up

If you are already on FULL FIBRE with BT, then the takeover should only take a few days.

If you are currently on FTTC and need FTTP installed, then get the Plusnet connection installed as a new line now (because it might take most of that time to complete), and then cancel your BT service once your new FTTP is up and running and/or when existing contract expires.

.

@Clubsceneuk2 I assume your contract with BT finishes on 20/03/2025? The One-Touch-Switch system is (AFAIK) fairly quick, but as you will be paid up to the end of your contract anyway - you pay a month in advance, there is nothing stopping you arranging it now.

If anything does go wrong, it merely means you will be paying the out of contract price for your service with BT until you move to PN.

A couple of considerations...

What is BT's termination notice? A migration is usually accepted as giving notice - I would not plan this substantially earlier than 14 days before the end of contract

You can specify a service take over date in the ordering process

31st March price increases are just around the corner and will be applied to new contracts, even if just taken HOWEVER, IIRC contracts taken late March might not have the annual increase applied to them (DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THIS!)

You need to check the above with sales.

Thinking about the 31st March in-contract price rises ... I do not recall seeing the price increases (in full or in part) reflected in the up-front selling price. You might be better off paying BT's out of contract price for a few days and switching to Plusnet on 1st April. It is all a bit of a gambol!
