Hi, I’m due to have my install on Thursday and I’m getting stressed, I had another provider booked in and they haven’t been able to install due to where the overhead wires would enter my house, (water pipes downstairs and bathroom upstairs ) I checked with customer service at booking but I’m not sure she understood that there was obstructions with the overhead, I have a virgin box installed at the front so would that be the same access to underground? I’m not very technically savvy, ( I work from home so I’m struggling really badly )

@Joelle

Put your phone number in the following

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

Assuming it has WBC FTTP in the left hand column look at the narrative below the results window. It'll tell you whether it is an overhead or underground OR feed and if any problems are expected from an install.

If it's overhead I don't see why the installer can't run cable round the sides of the house to a suitable point. This must have a power source.

Hi Brian, Thankyou , I hadn’t found that info before , it’s like a whole new language though !, i think I read the correct line, and I think it says overhead 😟 , I have a lean-too to the side of the house,(wrong side of pole) which is where the very very old supply used to come in , the line was awful hence why I switched to virgin ,( I couldn’t even make a landline phone call it was that bad)but thier customer service has been horrible hence desperately switching again, the other supplier (that came a few weeks ago) said that the cables didn’t like too many bends, my house is hickledy pickledy at the back , I’m stuck arent I , the other houses mostly have the lines coming overhead in front but my house is a little too far from the front poles, and obscured at the back by next door and another’s extension , I guess I’ll just have to wait and hope the installer can do something , I can’t be the only person in the country that has this issue!!

You can post a screen image if your like (hiding your details). You use the icon above the message box that looks like a rectangle with a mountain in it.

My results have

"Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG Proven Clear.

ONT exists with active service. A spare port may be available or a single port ONT may be swappable to a multiport ONT. A new ONT may be ordered."

I knew it was underground (u/g) as the chamber is about 3 metres from my door. I also knew the duct was clear as I watched the OR boys run a draw rope through it.
