[quote=BBC News]Leading internet firms have set 6 June as the World IPv6 launch day.
IPv6 is the new net address system that replaces the current protocol IPv4, which is about to run out of spaces to allocate.
Web companies participating in the event have pledged to enable IPv6 on their main websites from that date.
The Internet Society, which made the announcement, said the day represented "a major milestone" in the deployment of the standard
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16601636

Hi guys,
Things are moving on with IPv6, we're just testing out some of the View My Broadband Usage functionality now (I'll put a new post out about that) and you'll have seen the posts about testing out IPv6 firmware on the Technicolor routers.
There are plans in place for IPv6 on the various websites, email, hosted services etc. as well as things like DNS but at the moment I can't give you any dates as to when any of them will be done yet, we'll keep you updated as each thing happens like I'll now go and post about VMBU.

They are referring to IPv4...
Although why they think sharing addresses slows down connection speeds is another matter entirely - sure there is an overhead but it is negligible. I suspect the author is confusing the sharing of addresses with the sharing of a connection's bandwidth.
Mathew

No one (who has IPV6) should have noticed anything really, if we did it'd be a problem! Only thing I've noticed about IPV6 recently is that if I'm looking for devices I check if it's IPV6 capable, like my new mobile phone, turns out that Windows Phone 7.5 isn't IPV6 enabled, can't remember if my PSVita is or not, I think it wasn't.

It certainly seems to have generally gone without all the fuss and fanfare of last year's test day. Either the novelty has worn off or it is a reflection that there are less issues being faced by those that (now) support it.
It is a shame that many of the big players didn't take the plunge. I'd be interested in hearing what Plusnet did as they made quite a fuss about last year's pilot day.
Mathew

Both WM 5 and 6 were IPv6 enabled... One can only assume it was rushed out incomplete.
Mathew
