Ok, I seem to have this working - to an extent with the following settings...

However as soon as the router connects, I seem to get the following entry into system log at 1 or 2 second intervals

Is this normal?

If, as I suspect not, do you think it is due to my settings or a "feature" of the ER605?

Is this normal?

No, looks like its constantly trying to renew the connection.

Looking at the manual , for the 'Get IPv6 address' does selecting SLAAC + Stateless DHCP make any difference , or even AUTO ?

I'm actually using an ER605 myself, The hardware is good but I'm afraid I gave up on TPLink firmware some time ago and flashed it with native Openwrt. It obviously doesnt work with the Omada controller and is a one-way trip, there's no going back to the factory firmware. Quite a steep learning curve as well...

If I use that, the "IPv6 address" field remains as :: and the Lans only have link local addresses.

If I use Auto, I seem to get the same result as using DHCPv6

@IMM that's sort of what I expected but it was worth a try. AIUI it should be using DHCPv6 to get an IPv6 prefix.

If you look at my Openwrt configuation for the IPv6 WAN interface below

Its set as a DHCPv6 client and uses the existing PPPoE tunnel (@wan) to communicate. I assume in your case thats the 'Use same PPPoE connection as IPv4'

It definitely shouldn't be logging a connect attempt evry 2 seconds! I'd suggest posting on the TpLink business forums to see if anyone has any ideas https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/794?page=1

However that was with an ER605 V1 with early firmware. I assume yours is a V2 and are you on the latest firmware ?

The latest relaesed seems to be 2.2.6 https://support.omadanetworks.com/uk/product/er605/?resourceType=download

No.

I think the default behavior seems to be the same as for IPv4 -

All incoming connections from WAN are dropped.

Outbound traffic to the WAN is allowed.

Traffic is routed between the (non WAN) VLans (I assume I can add access control rules to stop that but have not yet tried to do so.)

My setup for IPv6 was

1. Configure the WAN (as your post 8 )

2. Configure the LAN (as in my first post) As part of that I think I had to enable the prefix delegation server and add an entry.

Then my windows 10 and 11 PCs would connect -

Android phone, iPhone and iPad also pick up IPv6 addresses, though were slow to do so but I think that may be due to a problem with my home network.

Thanks for that, all working now, but only one WAN at a time.

I only have one WAN - so cannot try anything out.

However If you have more than 1 Vlan, I wonder whether you could delegate one WAN to Vlan1 and another WAN to Vlan2 etc.

Similarly, once it is initially set up, I wonder whether you can add entries to the prefix delegation server so that more than one WAN delegates to each Vlan

I'll have to let you experiment with that as I can't.

For IP6 with multiple WAN links, you have to be careful to ensure that the right IP addresses go to each WAN.

If WAN1 gives you aa:bb:cc:dd::/YY and WAN2 gives you ee:ff:gg:hh::/ZZ then usually you can't send WAN1's traffic over WAN2 and vice-versa as the providers have anti-spoofing rules in place.

That isn't usually an issue for IP4 traffic as that's usually handled by NAT.

I'm not familiar with this particular device's capabilities, but you handle this using 'policy based routing' on Linux systems.
