Unifi UDR on FTTP

I thinking of moving from my Hub 2 to a Unifi UDR router but before I do this have any of you tested compatibility using PPoE? I understand the settings that are needed but just confirmation before I make this leap.

I haven't used a Unifi UDR but third party routers are fine with Plusnet.

The obvious questions are full fibre or not?

If full fibre then plug the UDR into the Openreach ONT.(note no VLAN settings for the WAN connection needed, the ONT handles that)

If not then the Hub 2 can be set into bridge mode.

PPPoE requires more from the router than a DHCP connection but my guess is that the Unifi UDR router would be up to it.

My advice would be to choose wisely, some Unifi devices are expensive, spending lots money is not always needed.

No detail on your current Full Fibre package, with 900 Mbps you need to check the router is up to the task dependant on your usage,whether cable or wireless.

routers with an onboard VPN server would be resource hungry.

I find gemini AI can be helpful for product/device information and comparison.
