The router is posted and where it is put is up to the people living there - plugged into a power point and the Openreach phone socket; though the cable for this is fairly short.</P> <P>With full fibre there is a physical install, so someone has to attend, but the position the installed ONT is put is a compromise between where there is a power point and where the person at home would like it put. The router is then plugged into the ONT by an Ethernet cable and gets power from the power socket.</P> <P>If it's a PN Hub 2 router there is quite a long power lead from the power unit and this allows a lot of freedom over where the router is placed. It's the connection between the router and the ONT (if there is one) which may leave them close together. However the Ethernet cable from the router to the ONT can, in effect, be as long as you like.
