I was supplied with a new router is was because it kept dropping the printer

Given the replacement router is not a fix, and there are no other Wi-Fi issues mentioned,
you may find : the Printer is dropping its Wi-Fi connection to the Router.

We have an Epson Printer / Scanner, it drops the Wi-Fi connection every time it enters power saving ( after 20 mins idle )
and will remain disconnected indefinitely.

We switched to a network cable and the daily menace of printer off-line issues vanished.

Had MAC Address Filtering been and issue, the printer would not reconnect after reboots / restarts

Today I have spent sometime figuring out why my printer no longer works.

Turns out it has forgotten the network and inspite of repeated attempts was unable to connect using WPS or manual config, even when located next to the router.

Finally found a diagnostic that suggests the router is filtering on mac address - for which I can find no settings (and at some point I had also cleared the old printer record from the device list just in case that was the conflict).

At a loss I rebooted the router and printer able to reconnect and we're all happy.

I am posting this here as a record because last time I was supplied with a new router is was because it kept dropping the printer from the wifi and a reboot of the router was the only fix......so just making a record in case I start to see a repetition again.

WiFi printers can be pigs!

I have a Samsung laser printer and have encountered to following issues (on various routers)…

Finds the SSID but does not connect properly - seemed to be associated with the bands / modes supported by the router - needed band b to be available

Devices encounters issues connecting to the printer - that’s probably connected with the printer getting a different IP address - fixed by allocating a static IP address in DHCP

Printer appears to not track WiFi channel changes - fixed by locking the WiFi channel

Accept these are tad imprecise but they seem to have improved printer connections.
