TP link to Flint 2 or others router Q's

Hi all,

for a long time I have used TP, link products, but recently having had an old one conk out on me, or at least I thought it had, I started to use my Plusnet Hub 2 which works OK but just doesn't have the coverage that I need for my house.

I put my hub two into bridge mode and have purchased a Tplink Ax 72, Long story short that after quite a bit of time of messing and a lengthy phone conversation with Plusnet Helpline and the help of ChatGPT it just seems there is a whole host of things that I need to mess with as it just won't connect to the internet, change settings, MAC cloning etc. And I just want to be able to plug and play like I used to be able to do.

So the question is, am I likely to have more success with the Flint 2, chosen after looking through threads no here, than I am with more TP link, products is it plug and play? Is it easy enough to get setup like tplink should be?

at times we have three people working from home with video teams, calls going on gamers and a fair bit of streaming. So I need something quite robust, my VR900 seemed to work fine, but I can't get that connected either anymore

I was even suspicious that my older TP link wasn't actually dead, but couldn't get that to connect to the Internet again either, having been told that it decided to reset its own password, but then plusnet have no actual record of happening either.

My other option is to be transferred over to EE where they have a better router apparently and their staff are trained to a higher level to discuss router settings.

Any help or wise commentary appreciated.

Thanks

And I just want to be able to plug and play like I used to be able to do.

No third party router will be completely 'plug and play' unlike an ISP supplied router.

Having said that...

If using the Hub 2 in bridge mode, all you need to do is connect your router WAN port to a Hub 2 LAN port and configure the router WAN connection for PPPoE with your Plusnet username & password. The AX72 should work fine in this situation as should the Flint2

If using a combined modem/router (like the VR900) then you need to configure for VDSL with VLAN ID 101 and your username/password as above,

No need for any MAC cloning etc

the above is what i hoped to do, but no amount of resetting and checking with plusnet on the phone could get the router to work unfortunately, its like its blocked.

So you are using the Hub Two in bridge mode light is pink/purple and the TP-Link AX72 ?

Ethernet cable is Hub Two Lan 1,2 or 3 to AX72 WAN port?

EDIT: there is no need to set the AX72 with VLAN 101, the Hub two looks after that setting.

The Hub Two WAN port is used to connect to a Full Fibre ONT

So LAN 1, 2 or 3 is where a router WAN port is connected. I have previously used a TP-Link AX53 connected this way.

So Modem (hub 2) Lan 1, 2 or 3 ---------- to WAN on Router
