I use a FritzBox 7530 (the AX version has better WiFi but costs more). I got mine for £35 from CEX.

How to run more than one SSID with the Hub 2 router?

I've just switched to PlusNet Full Fibre from Virgin Media. I'm very happy with the service so far but, unlike the old Virgin Media router, it seems I can't run two different SSIDs at the same time on the new PlusNet Hub 2 router. This was very useful for allowing guests to attach to a guest network on one SSID. Then, if something went wrong I could always disable the guest network or change its password without having to disrupt my family's devices attached to my personal 'family' SSID.

Can anyone confirm whether and how it's possible to host 2 different SSIDs simultaneously on the Hub 2 router?

Ok, that's a shame. I'm not sure I want to buy another router tbh. I already have a Powerline adapter so I guess I could use that for the guest SSID. I just didn't want to have to plug in more devices or use more electricity. Hopefuly PlusNet will roll out a router in future that supports > 1 SSID.

I found the single-SSID dual-frequency of Hub 2 quite annoying, but for various reasons did deploy a powerline adapter at a different place in my home.

One incidental advantage I found was that the second network was more configurable/flexible for security settings so was able to support some older devices without compromising the main Hub2 setup.

If you have an unused router you can repurpose it as a wireless point for your guest ssid

Well if you have a Full Fibre connection of 500 or greater than the purchase of a new router which supports WiFi 6 may be off benefit. Clearly you would need a WiFi 6 compatible device which most new products which support 5GHz are now.

The FritzBox 7530 although a good router does not support WiFi 6 so not really future proof.

Plusnet have never supplied a Hub which has a guest network option <STRIKE>and inline with the BT/EE residential devices which plusnet hubs are based on, they are likely not to have.</STRIKE>

Edit - I'm not so sure about BT/EE newer devices not having a guest network, newer models might have this option
