I recently thought I'd remove an old telephone socket in a bedroom but when I disconnected the wires, my WiFi stopped connecting. I have tried to reconnect them (and mirror the terminals from the socket the router plugs into) but i'm not having any luck with it. Any pointers?

Just a thought - is the router plugged into the master socket? What is the state of the router light(s)?

Saw a picture awaiting moderation. Not easy to see the detail. Is the router on the master socket or the extension?

There are three wires connected: only pins 2 & 5 are required. Having 3 connected (the ring circuit) is unnecessary and can degrade the signal.

How have you pushed the wires into the terminals? Without a proper push down tool it can be difficult to get a good connection.

@Lukemartyn78

Have you managed to fix your problem? Looking at the picture attached to your profile.

In the background of the picture is the master socket, this should be where the incoming phone line comes in, there is a test socket does the Hub work there?

In the foreground is the faceplate where extensions connect.

You only need wires connected to 2 and 5, there is no need to remove the insulation, the contacts cut through it with the punch down tool used for these type of connections.

Not that it helps now, I usually take a picture for reference before starting wiring work.

Please feed back if you have resolved the issue.
