Why does that matter? Presumably the upstairs one is beyond the working distance of the short range 5GHz band. To test, swap the two sticks over. If you get the same result then if your upstairs speed is inadequate you need to get a better signal to this floor.

Hi all,

I have two 4k firesticks in my house. One downstairs and one in a bedroom. The one downstairs has a 5Ghz wifi connection but the one upstairs in only 2.4Ghz and I am struggling to connect it to 5Ghz. I tried forgetting the wifi connection and then rescanning but to no avail. There is no wifi in the list of available wifi showing a 5Ghz. I have also tried resetting the router but this did not work. I have a Hub Two so I am unable to split the bands due to Smart setting.

Please can anyone assist ?

Thanks

@emlo welcome to the forum.

Assuming both firesticks do connect to 5GHz?

Not being able to connect to 5GHz is not necessarily a bad thing. A strong 2.4Ghz signal could have a faster speed than a weak 5GHz signal.

What is important is the connection speed between the firestick and the Hub.

Have you performed a speedtest on the bedroom device, what is it?

How is the device performing when connected to 2.4GHz?

If its the 2.4ghz only stick that's giving the problem, then temporarily disable the 5ghz on the router, connect the stick and then reenable the 5ghz. That often works...

Not sure how turning off 5GHz would help

@Dan_the_Van I read the query wrong!

I read it that one stick was only capable of 2.4ghz. Having reread it I see now that the problem is that both are 5ghz capable but one only connects at 2.4ghz.

Just ignore my previous reply....
