OpenWRT on an old Hub One

Hello,

I've recently changed to FTTP and got a new router, so I have managed to put OpenWRT onto the old router. I've got the Wifi setup on it, but I can't get it to connect to the ONT so far. I have two questions:

1) Should the cable from the ONT be connected to one of the LAN ports or can I use the RJ-45 WAN Ethernet port (that's where I have it currently).

2) The password that I put into the router to connect to the service, is that the same password I use for the web site, and if not, how do I find out what it is?

The main motivation for doing this is to get the Andrews and Arnold SIP service running - currently (on the standard router) I can only get audio going in one direction.

Im assuming you have the Plusnet Hub 2, A & A SIP should work fine with it.

What SIP device are you using ?

@MisterW I don't believe the hub 2 can run Openwrt. The title of the thread says the router is a Hub1.

Edit. as you say there is no reason why A&A Sip should not work on a Hub 2

@RealAleMadrid yes Ibut @PaulD_IoW is putting Openwrt on the OLD router!

Any new router will be a Hub 2.

1: Plug the ethernet cable in the red (Wan) port on your PNHO to the ONT.

2: The 'account_password' is your account password.

This is the wan set up on my BBHH5 on the fttp service (in the file:- /etc/config/network):

config interface 'wan' option device 'wan' option proto 'pppoe' option username 'accountname@plusdsl.net' option password 'account_password' option ipv6 'auto'

I also use the A&A VOIP service, using an ATA.

OpenWRT is on the old Hub One, which was made redundant when I moved from FTTC to FTTP.

Hi,

I have always done it via the web interface. But what you have there looks very similar to what I have. I take it you used SSH to get into it. Whats the way to do that? I tried ssh -l root 192.168.1.1 but it gave me an error and would not let me in.

@PaulD_IoW the N510 should work fine on A & A with the Hub 2. I have the N300 which is pretty much identical to the 510 and have used it with A & A. A family member also uses the N300 and a Hub 2 on A & A with no problems.

Have you set it up as per the A & A settings here https://support.aa.net.uk/File:N300settings.png , paricularly the STUN disabled NAT refresh time and Outbound proxy 'automatic' ?

The command I use is:

ssh root@192.168.1.1

Then edit the network settings with :

vi /etc/config/network

(You can check your current settings by creating a backup file in LuCi at "system-backup/flash firmware-generate archive"

and look at the files within that.)

and one thing to check on the Hub 2, check that the SIP Alg is disabled ( it is by default )
