I have a USB storage device connected to my Hub2 router. The router recognises the device which appears on the admin web page. I can access the device from a PC by simply mapping it to a network drive. However, when I attempt to connect from an iPad using the Files app as shown in several YouTube videos I’m told the “operation is not supported”.
Is this a limitation of the Hub2 router or am I missing something? There doesn’t appear to be any facility on the router admin page that will allow me to configure a USB device.

It’s all a matter of how if at all your iPad can access the local network - see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBztyp3SG5c

The hub 2 USB port only supports the SMB1 protocol, which is considered to be a security risk these days. It would not surprise me if IPads refuse to connect to it. On windows 11 it is blocked by default and has to be enabled.

Use the Owlfiles app for SMB1. Once you have setup the connection in Owlfiles you can then access it via the native files app.
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/owlfiles-file-manager/id510282524
