Sadly on the Hub 2 you can't split the 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi.

What you could try is turn off the 5GHz Wi-Fi on the Router leaving just the 2.4GHz working and see if that helps, but as someone else has mentioned it might be an issues with the 2 Wi-Fi extenders. You could temporary switch one of them off for awhile and see if that helps.

Hi
I have been having issues with my wifi recently
A few times a day my connection will drop
Spoke to an advisor and after checking my line was OK she suggested that I may have too many devices connected
I probably have about 15 devices that include PlayStation Firestick,mobile phone,2 wifi extenders,doorbell camera,back door camera,3 TVs,ipad and tablet
Is there a better router I could get that can cope with multiple devices?
Currently have a hub 2 on full fibre
Any help would be appreciated

Any chance of running some ethernet cable to a WiFi Access point (WAP)? Would reduce the number of devices connected to the router.

As regard to a new router have a look on eBay or CEX for a Fritz!Box! 7530 or 7530AX (this has WiFi6). I have a 7530 sitting on my coffee table waiting to be unpacked. Cost £35.

This is the router Zen Internet use and is well regarded.

That’s not excessive for these hubs. What do you mean by connection dropping? Are the lights changing? If so, it’s got nothing to do with the number of connected devices.

Perhaps if you start again and fully explain what is happening it would help and we can maybe save you some money.

You did not answer the question: Are the lights on your hub changing?

To determine whether this is a WiFi or network problem it is necessary to determine whether this slow down occurs with a wired connection. Do you have any wired devices that you can use to test with during a slow down?

Another check you can do is to use a WiFi sniffer app (I use WiFI Analyzer on an Android phone) to see if there are neighbours using the same WiFi channel. If so you can change the channel that you use in the Hub 2 advanced wireless settings.

This reinforces the suggestion that this is purely a wireless problem. You mention 150Mbps, is that indicating that you are on the 145Mpbs service or are you on a faster service with normally limited wireless speed? Are you uploading much data?

With the need for two WiFi extenders I assume that you have a large property?

By far the best solution for larger properties is to replace the Plusnet hub with a multi unit mesh set up. Even better if the mesh satellites are interconnected using an Ethernet backhaul.

To add some of my experience to the mix: I have > 30 Wi-Fi clients on my network in a moderately congested Wi-Fi environment and a Hub Two can cope fine with it. Whatever the cause, I don't think it's anything to do with the number of devices on the network.
