topic Wifi dropping on for phone/tablet in My Router

Hello,

In the past 3-4 days, the Wi-Fi connection for my phone and tablet has been disconnecting? And when I try to "connect" back, it would say connection fail or it would ask me to retype password. But none the less it still fails to connect.

I try turning restarting my electronic devices and doesn't help.

When I restart the router, the connection comes back but only for a short time, like 15-60mins. Before it drops out again.

But strangely, my tv box is able to receive the Wi-Fi signal.

So what's wrong?

Can you provide more information such as which Plusnet Hub model do you have?

Are you using iphones/ipads or android devices?

@sotsekin

I'm wondering whether your TV stays connected because it is more likely to be on the 2.4GHz wireless band, whereas your phone and tablet probably have a preference to connect to the 5GHz WiFi band.

The 2.4GHz band will have a wider range, and more likely to stay connected to mobile devices around your house

whereas the 5GHz band only has a short range with higher speeds, but more likely to dropout as you move around.

As an experiment, can I suggest switching OFF the 5GHz WiFi band in your Plusnet Hub2 router, and see whether the "disconnecting" issues get better with all your devices connecting to WiFi on the remaining 2.4GHz band.

Watch this video - YouTube : Changing your Hub Two wireless settings

then at time = 1:20 you should see the web page shown below,

toggle the 5GHz wireless to OFF, then hit the [Save] button.
