Hello. If all goes to plan in the near future I'll be getting FTTP/Full Fibre and for various reasons I need to up my WiFi game. A few of my friends have Ubiquiti kit and seem quite happy, so I thought I may join them.

I've been doing a bit of research and I guess I'll be looking at something like UniFi Express or Cloud Gateway with an AP/switch/etc where needed (as Dream Routers seem to be mythicaly rare). I believe they do PPPoE, but do they connect straight to the Openreach ONT, or would I have to do something involving the PlusNet Hub?

I am looking at doing the same once I have FTTP. It seems that you just need the equipment below (at least this is what I am going to get):

Unifi Cloud Gateway Max

Unifi U7 Pro Access Point

Unfit PoE Injector to power the AP as my switch does not do PoE.

@bugs No, you need VLAN disabled. Any VLAN ID requirement is handled by the ONT.

Ive had the FTTP for a long time and haven't had any problems with the hub2 and I have checked the username and password. It's so frustrating because I configured all my unifi equipment whle still connecting through the hub2 and am really pleased with unifi, Ive got a 16 port switch ( 8 with POE) U6+ access point Cameras and a PVR. All is exceptionally brilliant but as soon I try to put the hub2 into bridge mode or connect directly to the Gateway I get the 'NO INTERNET' message

All is exceptionally brilliant but as soon I try to put the hub2 into bridge mode

@bugs well firstly, using bridge mode on the Hub 2 won't work. Bridge mode bridges the DSL port to the LAN ports i.e its a DSL modem so is no use for FTTP.

or connect directly to the Gateway I get the 'NO INTERNET' message

So does it actually not make the PPPoE connection OR is it saying it can't reach the gateway ?

I'm not sure about the Ubiquiti but some routers detect an Internet connection by pinging the gateway. That won't work, the gateways wont respond to ping. If it needs something to ping to check connectivity try setting it to one of the NTP servers ( assuming its configurable )

You need to disconnect the Hub Two and put it in a cupboard

Then connect the UB router WAN directly into the ONT LAN port where the Hub two used to be plugged into.

Configure the WAN for a PPPoE internet connection as previously discussed

Thanks I don't think I'll put it in a cupboard, I've got more drastic measures in mind, that involve a very heavy tool! I think I now know why I can't connect - I think my attempt is conflicting with a previous install. I am going to try to delete the existing instal and start again with a clean sheet
