Hi guys switching from FTTC to FTTP I’m currently running netgear N600 3700 v2 via a modem , thinking of installing a AX 3000 has anyone used it with FTTP & will it just plug straight into ONT found this set info on amazon

Set up instructions I found
A game
PP changer.Setup wasn't as easy as just
connecting the router for me. I had to get
Sele
my username and password from Vodafone live chat. I then had to go into the router settings and set the internet connection type to PPPoE and then enter the details

that Vodafone had given me.You also need to enter the VLAN ID which you can find in Advanced>>Network>>|PTV/WLAN. Set the mode to custom and depending on.co.uk whether you are on the openreach network or the city fibre network you'll need to set
Pass the VLAN ID to either 101 or 911. Also
whilst in the router settings goto wireless and set the 5GHz Channel width to 20/40/80/160MHz.

@JC75 welcome to the forum

You set the WAN to PPPoE using your broadband username and password.

There is NO need for a VLAN as the ONT has that setting

It will work provided the modem creates the VLAN101

Not sure about that it’s just a openreach modem with a DSL port & 2 LAN ports , I didn’t have to configure anything different swapping from ASDL to FTTC , just DSL to modem then cat5 to port on netgear gigabit fibre port , so fingers crossed

An openreach modem creates the VLAN101 so I doubt you'll need to worry about anything other than setting up the PPPoE broadband username and password on the TP-Link router

That would help because all my equipment is neatly mounted , wires run out of the way , I’ve just moved my modem to where I want him to mount the ONT & swapped out the cat5 for a cat6 so when the router arrives I will log in & configure it as you have suggested & change all the wi fi name’s & passwords to mine

It asks for:	Use:
Broadband username or login name	yourusername @plusdsl.net
Connection type or encapsulation	PPPoE Always On
Password	The password you use to log in to the My Account

Saves a lot of bother copying over the wireless names

All sorted , configured router no problem to be fair TP link less complicated than other routers I have done , so don’t see any problems when FTTP fitted next week, cheers Dan 👍

Hi, I have recently started using Plusnet full fibre 300, but found the WiFi signal around the house is poor, so purchased a TP ax3000 router and TP link extender for my office (otherside of house to router). My problem is I can’t get the TP link router to connect to the wall mounted open reach modem. The router just shows an orange light for ‘internet’ connected. I have tried some of the suggestions with the settings above (PPPoE ) but nothing works……maybe I am missing a step somewhere?

Any suggestions how to set this router up to connect? …..thanks (step by step would be great)

Have you logged into the router & set it up
Your plusnet username@dsl.net & put wan settings PPPoe?

Yes the wan settings were PPPoe, after that’s all set and click the last step it just says no internet and the led stays orange rather than changing to green

(I know all the cables work as when I plug the Plusnet router back in it all works fine)

@jjones2208 you are correct, It should be username@plusdsl.net. Check the username & password you are using by logging in to the member centre here https://www.plus.net/member-centre/login

Note that there, you dont need the @plusdsl.net suffix, just the username

@jjones2208 The PPPoE WAN setting along with the Plusnet username and password should be all that is required. Read the earlier posts in this thread about not needing a VLAN ID to be set in the router, check that VLAN ID is not enabled.

Hi,

Yes I have checked the user/password and typed in the username@plusdsl.net again saved the info and rebooted router, but it’s still showing as not connected.

Is there any other settings I need to change?

It’s currently using the default MAC address for the new router, should this be a clone of the plusnet router?

VLan is set to not enabled

Just reset the router credentials and started again, something must have been different this time as it’s now connected ok!, very odd.

@jjones2208 - during the last half hour, I'm seeing failed connection attempts due to an incorrect password so I'm assuming you're getting somewhere?
