Router recommendation - Needs to have Static Routes

I've just had FTTC installed and had a new Hub Two delivered.

I was sorry to see it can't do Static Routes, so it's limiting from what I had before.
I can't seem to get my old ADSL modem/router to work with FTTC. It has PPPoE WAN available on one of the LAN ports but doesn't seem to connect.

Are Static Routes ever likely to be added to the Hub Two with a firmware update?

Has anyone got a recommendation of a 3rd party router that works well with FTTC (obviously with Static Routes available ;)?

unlikely

You should be able to get your existing router to work. Confgure the Hub 2 in bridge mode, connect you router Wan port to a lan port on the Hub 2 and configure the wan for PPPoE with your plusnet credentials

not sure I fully understand what you are trying to say.

To use your own router with a WAN PPPoE connection you need configure the Hub Two to 'Bridge Mode' You connect the router WAN port to LAN 1,2 or 3 NOT the Hub Two WAN port

Huh, OK, maybe that's where I've messed up.

I thought I'd be able to use my old router just plugged into the FTTC box instead of the Hub Two?

I wasn't overly keen on having the Hub Two and the old Router, mainly because I don't have enough mains outlets, but I can fix that I guess.

not if your old router only has an ADSL compatible modem.

I said it has PPPoE WAN available on one of the LAN ports. Maybe it's too old to work with current FTTC though.

What model is your 'old router' ?

and have you updated it to the latest version of firmware from the manufacturer ?

I've just had FTTC installed

From what I can see that netgear modem/router supports ADSL and VDSL (FTTC) broadband supplied over copper cable.

You need to check the setting for the DSL connection is for VDSL and not ADSL, see https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/broadband-connection-settings/

What are you trying to setup that requires the Hub Two to need a static route?

If your using Full Fibre (FTTP) then indeed you would need to use the WAN port of the netgear device and connect it directly to the ONT fitted by Openreach.

That router is easily capable of working with Plusnet FTTC.

You should be able to simply connect it's "DSL" port to your master phone socket, without the need for an external modem.

Then from the handbook looking at the section "Specify a VDSL Connection With a Login and a PPPoE Service" on page 45

Add your Plusnet 'Login' and 'Password', and make sure the 'VLANID' is set to 101 and 'Priority' is set to 0.

Yeah, that's what I thought too, lol.
