New Hub 2 Router

Hello All,

I’ve been with Plusnet for over 15 years and had a selection of routers and modems. My last, and current, equipment is an old Plusnet 2704N router plugged into an Openreach modem both supplied by Plusnet about 6 years ago. On renewing my broadband plus contract with Plusnet I was sent a Hub 2. My question is, does this Hub 2 replace BOTH parts of my equipment I.e. the router and the modem? I don’t want to make any changes until I’m sure what to do.

Furthrrmore, it]s this Hub 2 a more efficient and powerful replacement for what I have currently installed?

@Tiggs Welcome to the forum.

Yes it replaces both boxes and yes it will give you far better WiFi performance.

Being a single unit with more efficient components it will also use less electricity.

I don't know the 2704N but assuming it's the HubZero on the following link.

Since then PlusNet have the HubOne which is a re-branded BT HH5

After this BT had the HH6 (sometimes known as the SmartHub1)

PlusNet now have the HubTwo which is basicalled a re-branded BT SmartHub2

So it's better - many PlusNet customers actually bought a BT HH6 because the WiFi was better than the HubOne.
