I'm trying to protect my kids for accessing hard core porn. Would not have expected that to be quite so hard. Funny world we live in eh?

safe guard never worked, it would change dns but never stop anything. So I bought a bt business smart hub 6 router from eBay, under the impression I could change the dns settings. Set it up today, works well as a router, but dns settings can not be changed. The bt website says go to advanced settings broadband, and find auto dns, but I have no such setting. I can see the dns settings, just can’t change them any one any ideas ? You'd have thought such content would be turned off by default not so damn hard to get rid of. I have the latest version of the firmware. Router came in a purple box btb ei si 7 if that means anything to anyone?

You can change the DNS server on a Business Smarthub 6. See here.

https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Using-the-BT-Smarthub-6-on-a-Plusnet-Account/m-p/1587673#M8557I

I don't recognise your description of yours. If you log into the router and look at the Status page the type number is the first part of the serial number. It should be something like +088315+xxxxxx. .Which type have you got?

ok thanks, reread the link and it does say use ipv4 screen. The BT help page said something different. I've now changed my DNS settings and rebooted, and set up open dns to hold my current ip address. Sometimes the internet bad guys test page is blocked sometimes not, seems a bit flakey, But because everytime I reboot my rooter i get a different ip address, opendns stops working. Thats not very hard to get round, hit reboot, no blocking

Is there a better blocking service that does not break if you reboot your router ?. ( Sorry this isnt really a router question anymore)
