Hi,
For the last week playing FIFA 14 has become a miserable and broken experience, players not moving, players sluggish, ball physics totally broken, this happens in offline and online ultimate team and it's driving me crazy, prior to this last week, the lag was not so noticeable and some days the games was buttery smooth, but over the last week, it has been consistently horrendous and I am at my wits end as to what the problem is.
I am connected directly to my Home Hub 3, live 500 yards away from the exchange so I get good speeds and have not had these issues, prior to this last week.

ive had same problems with fifa 14 m8 only way i can get my players to run fast is to keep deleting fifa 14 save.think your controller settings are different to what ea have stored on there server

I am going to have to consider moving ISP if this isn't resolved in a timely fashion, as I can see there have been similar threads about FIFA issues with Plusnet before, which were only resolved with the OP moving provider.
I like Plusnet, I have had no real downtime with them, but my connection has now become flaky with DNS issues, which have been solved by using Google DNS, also low speed and latency issues have started occurring.
Below is a uo trace for any the plusnet staff or any one who can decipher them:

No reply from any plusnet staff?, and my ticket has also not been answered, in a way it' a good thing that all these issues have come to light, when I am at the end of my contract, if Plusnet can't be bothered resolving these kind of ongoing issues for my self and other paying customers, then it only makes sense to seek better service elsewhere.

Plusnet where are you?, no reply to my ticket in over 18 hours, no reply to either of my posts, my weekend is being eaten away and I am being driven mad by this stupid crazy lag which makes my players retarded and unable to string two passes together. Please help!
Also can someone tell me how to check which gateway I'm connected to, and how I can change it, Thanks in advance.

We aren't really sure what;s going on with Fifa. It could be Level3, it could be the game itself. BT are seeing the same issues I think:

Thanks for replying, I think the issue could be level3 as the ping jumps to 100ms before traffic even leaves the UK, is there anything you can do at your end?, as this issue is obviously not new, there is a 60 page fifa lag thread already on the forum.
If I changed gateway would my traffic still be routed through the same servers/hops? or would it change?, also can you please have a look at my line, for any obvious issues.

Those traces show the leap in latency when it crosses the atlantic to America. It's not unusual. I don't see anything in the traces that explain the performance really. Remember though, you're only seeing the route OUT, not the route back. If there are problems there, you won't see it via a trace.

Is your gaming traffic actually routed via the US though? I've read that Fifa uses direct P2P connections with other gamers - so I think the ping times to EA's servers will be irrelevant.
Does anyone with Fifa problems have an Asus router by any chance?

There does seem to be an issue with Plusnet/BT and the way the network handles certain traffic, ie FIFA, as this is an ongoing issue from reading both here and the BT support forums. I'm somewhat dismayed that this issue has not been resolved when it has been going on for years. Friends and family who are with Sky and Virgin have no such lag/performance issues with online gaming and if they do, it usually clears up, whereas this is an ongoing issue, and should seriously be looked at, as without online gaming in my spare time, I might as well not have broadband altogether.

Again another thread exposing issues with Level3... sounds very familiar now.

The problem is, there is no specific evidence the issue is with Level3.
People are posting traceroutes to an EA address on the East Coast, but I don't think that shows any issues and it's not reflective of the actual P2P gameplay. If someone could do a netstat from their router of open connections when playing online, I think that would be more useful.

Ok, how about packet loss and high ping/latency at Plusnet's end, forget about the EA servers, look at the UOtrace below, there is something clearly wrong with BT/Plusnet network and infrastructure.
100% packet loss and high pings/latency, this is absolutely unacceptable service, and no one from Plusnet seems to give two hoots about any of the latency issues plaguing their paying customers. I for one will not be renewing my contract at the end of next month.
Uotrace attached, clearly showing fluctuating ping/latency and packet loss.

Hi,
That trace is showing 0% packet loss. The devices showing 100% are just ignoring your ICMP requests. You can see that there is no loss, because the last server on the trace has 0% loss and the packets will have to have traversed every other device on the way to it.
The latency of 97ms isn't that bad either for a transatlantic ping.

I give up, there is no reasoning with Plusnet, but before I go, riddle me this, why when I take my PS4 to my neighbours house, do all my issues of lag and horrendous gameplay miraculously clear up?, no lag, no dodgy gameplay, no stuck in treacle feeling, so that absolutely proves without a shadow of a doubt, that something is wrong with the BT/Plusnet network, if you continue to ignore this, more fool you, as myself and others will just vote with their wallets.

He's with Sky, not saying he's never had issues with Sky regarding his connection, but in regards to this routing and ea server error, there is no apparent issue there, as the game works as it should without input delay/lag. We're obviously connected to the same exchange, both ADSL-2 connections, but as Sky use their own equipment, it makes it apparent, that the issue lies with BT.
