The issue in my "This is NOT acceptable" post remains unresolved. But there is now something really weird.

If I run the BTW speedtest I get a download speed of 38.22 Mbps, which is far less than I am accustomed to. However the associated Performance Test Report [attached] mentions a maximum achievable downstream speed of 71.85Mbps.

My DSLstats monitoring produces statistics that are in the same ballpark.

I've just had a very long conversation with a Plusnet person who tried to help but the actions she took don't appear to have had any effect.

Frankly, I'm lost on how to proceed.

Am open to any advice from those in the community more expert than me..

HI, sorry I don't know what you are asking me for and I don't recognise "the hub" - what is it?.

I entirely agree with you however that something is not right.

It might need an engineer to look at it - that seems to be the direction that the Plusent support people are taking now.

That data indicates there is absolutely no problem with the connection to your Master Socket - all figures are spot on.

I do NOT turn my router off it runs 24/7/365 unless there is an interruption.

I normally NEVER run speedtests using wifi - ALL THE DATA YOU HAVE SEEN SO FAR IS VIA ETHERNET CABLE CONNECTED.

However out of curiosity I ran a wifi connected Ookla speedtest from a Samsung tablet this morning and the speeds attained were around 38Mbps. Only very minor differences were observed.

The reason I asked whether you had turned your equipment off is because your router data only showed an uptime of 5 hours 50 minutes, which was strangely co-incidently in line with the time of your post. If you do not turn the router/modem off, that indicates that you had a DSL disconnection around midnight.

Does the Zyxtel have any connection logs available?

Catching up here... apropos the comments about uptime. That's because I deliberately dropped the connection for at least two DLM cycles i.e. at least 30mins to see what, if anything, the re-synch produced. And it produced the strange situation we are now seeing via a drop in the downstream SNRM from 22dB to the 7.4dB I'm seeing currently.

Routinely I do NOT switch off my router but I did it the other day in desperation!

I should have added to the previous post that the 22dB downstream SNRM was because I had to substitute the cable connection form the master socket to the router because the cable that is normally connected got damaged in trying to connect it to the test socket and I couldn't get a replacement over the weekend. The temporary cable was poor quality and unshielded.

Poor form to reply to one's own posts I know, but answering the other posts has got me thinking. Prior to signing up for the 80/20 package I was on a 50/10 package with Plusnet. And I now recall that quite a while ago now [2019 I think] there was some kind of profile mix-up that only got fixed with an OpenReach engineer call.

From your router stats it doesnt look like the synch speeds are being artificially restricted. The downstream is ~74Mb and the upstream is over 10Mb (just). If they were being restricted then the SNR would be much higher than 6db.
