Moving me to ee

We have been told plusnet are moving us to ee.saying we will get full fibre and landlines.ive checked our address with open reach and it says not going to be in our area. So not sure can get fibre here.(wanting to get off our old line as it drops constantly. In countryside.only 1 spare wire and they have already moved us onto it)
I have 1 mnth left on plusnet contract.and want to go to Vodafone for landlines and fibre its the cheapest I could find.
Would I have early penalty fees as not going to ee.?
I can't find anywhere that answers this,nor anywhere that says I can go with another provider as its really plusnet breaking the contract and moving us.
Would I even get fibre with another provider as open reach postcode checker are saying its not available?

@Babssybabe1973 Unless Vodaphone have an agreement with another wholesale network, the prevision will be over the same cables with the same faults, so no change there, as there also won't be on a move to EE, as they exclusively use the Openreach network.

If you only have a month left on your contract with PN, there would be no ETCs to pay, as you pay a month in advance.

If no alternative networks are available, then no, you would not get Full Fibre with another ISP.

So, @Babssybabe1973 , you can actually get Full Fibre, but there may be problems with trees. Where does your current copper cable come from/go to, and does it appear to go through trees?

Are you posting from a phone/tablet?

The good news is that Openreach/BTW says "1-stage" for FTTP installation, but caveats that assessment with the reference to potential tree obstructions. So it certainly sounds like some tree pruning could make this become plain sailing. The OP could clarify what they see out there?

I suppose it's possible that the tree obstruction might be too major and prevent it from being a 1-stage install in a single appointment, but you wouldn't know for sure until they turn up on the install date (hopefully with the right gear and / or cherry picker).

The main sub station thing is 200m up the road.no houses between me and it. Just fields.i was under the impression from when we have had engineer out for line problems.that it crosses the road.comes past my house all underground to a telegraph pole. Then from top of pole to the end of our bungalow.. I dont get the tree issue as its underground and no trees in line from telegraph pole to our house...there used to be big conifers surrounding our house.but we removed them when we moved in 13 years ago.lol

In that case, @Babssybabe1973 , it should be a simple job to attach the Fibre cable to the connection on your telegraph pole and to your property, exactly as your current copper cable travels.

BTW, as Full Fibre doesn't go via the street cabinets, where they are is not relevant.

Are fibre optics run above ground. Cause there are trees opposite me so they would be a problem.. other thing is the neighbours who live 100m up the little side lane that runs up the side of our house.say they have fibre.paid for it themselves apparent. There is only 4 properties up there.

The cables for Full Fibre follow exactly the same route as your current setup, the only difference being they don't go through the street cabs.

That would be excellent if can get off this line with issues.when plusnet sent us a new router they stated it probably wouldn't cure our issues.got an engineer coming on Monday to see if he can do anything..plusnet said they can see how often it drops out.
I just don't want to have to move to ee when there are better deals with Vodafone.but worried there might be a early leaving fee,and they might say we'll we aren't fitting your full fibre...would Vodafone fit it.via open reach obviously
I'm going to have to ring them and see what they say. Then ring Vodafone to make sure we can get fibre and if they are going to install it

Attachments from a phone are slighlty different from using a PC. Sory about that.

Does the pole have a box at the top that looks something like the attached picture. This is a Connectozied Block Terminal (CBT). The fibre optic cable plugs into this and is then run to your house.

There is some leeway as to where the internal Optical Network Adaptor (ONT) is located but you talk about this on the day with the engineer.

If by some chance trees do cause a problem your current service will continue unti FF is installed.

The following gives an idea of what to expect. Note the video is wrong re power sockets. The router connects via ethernet cable so can go anywhere you're happy to run said cable.

So would they have to dig up road to replace my copper cable,because I can't see them doing that.unless they pull new cable through using old one..engineer did say it was very cramped in the hole.full of cables..lol

Could I ask the open reach guy on Monday.if I'm likely to get fibre? Would he be able to tell me

Yes, you can get Full Fibre, from any ISP who uses the Openreach network.

How long have you got left on your current contract - the exit fees will probably be lower than you think, but you can get them from the Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632.

No, there is no digging involved, but if the chamber is cramped, it may take a while for them to complete the job, but they usually get there in the end.

I doubt a field engineer would be able to tell you more than we have tried to do on here.

Good point, @MisterW - but maybe the imminent engineer could answer that?
