Power socket for full fibre

I am thinking of getting full fibre installed. Where the ONT socket will be installed and where I expect to have the router there are no power sockets. Will I be able to use an extension lead from the nearest wall socket with like 2 or 4 sockets on it?

Have a look at the following about the install.

There is a bit of leeway as to where the ONT goes - to be discussed with the engineer on the day. You'd get away with a power extension on the day but you'd probably need to think about getting a power socket installed. Eithe that or screw the extension onto the wall.

Your router connects via ethernet cable so can go anywhere you're happy to run said cable.

Surely if you say "there is no power anywhere near the old master socket" they have to come up with a different location ?

That cannot be that uncommon with the traditional setup of a 'phone in the hall'

They cannot make you find an extension lead and run off leaving you to get an electrician in.

Obviously you can then make suitable suggestions in order of preference, based on the advice around this forum.

Why do you think that the ONT will be installed in this location? The installer will normally route the fibre, either externally or internally, to a location within a meter of a power socket.
