When connecting the plusnet hub2 to the ONT, the instructions say to use the red RJ45 socket on the hub2.

The hub2 has 4 yellow RJ45 sockets with a red WAN label above the 4th one. Is this the red socket?

My daughter currently has FTTC + landline and Plusnet hub2.

She is changing to FTTP with nolandline and has a visit from openreach scheduled to do the FTTP install.

Will they also connect the FTTP box up to the Plusnet hub?

Does anything need to be done on the hub?

They may do - depends on the installer - but it is easy enough to do it yourself, just means plugging an Ethernet cable between the ONT and the red (WAN) port on the HUB.

Nothing needs doing on the Hub.

Will they also connect the FTTP box up to the Plusnet hub?

They SHOULD do. They should connect the ONT to a router and check its working. Make sure there's an ethernet cable available as the ONT isnt supplied with one.

Does anything need to be done on the hub?

No, once the DSL cable is disconnected and an ethernet cable connected from the WAN (red) port to the ONT it should autodetect the new connection and just work.

Just got a link from openreach to their installtion video which says they need a double mains socket near the ONT.

I thought the ONT would need 1 mains socket.

You do only need a single socket within 1m of the ONT - the router can be wherever you like so so long as the Ethernet cable is long enough.

That's what I thought. Plusnet hub is next to the current phone socket so ONT will likely be next to that. There is spare mains socket there. Cheers.

@cjags I wouldn't assume that is where the ONT will go, The installer who did my install (was not Open Reach themselves) refused to put the ONT where my master socket and router was, he had nothing with him to do any work required to route the fibre cable other than where it was routed which for me was at the back of the house to the living room, I had waited 5 months for the installation at this point so couldn't be bothered telling him to go to get someone else willing to do the work, in the end I got a all-weather Ethernet cable and routed that from the ONT around the side of the house to the front and into the hallway where the master socket and router is, no issues at all and getting full speed.

Hopefully you get someone that is more willing to do the job and place it where you would like it to be, but be prepared that they may not.

Openreach have done the FTTP installation and connected the Plusnet hub2 to the ONT and tested that it connects OK. They have now gone but daughter has an issue with her mobile phone connection to the hub2 via wifi.

Before the istallation, her phone connceted OK. Now the wifi connection asks for a wifi password (on her phone).

She enters the password from the back of the hub2 but it is not valid.

Does the hub2 create a new wifi password when it switches to FTTP from FTTC?
