After Some Advice on the install time frame.

So after years and years of waiting for Openreach to install full fibre in our area, over the last week the poles went up on our estate, we have one right by the house.

There is a work permit for the cabling to be routed from the nearest box/exchange to the new poles.

So my question is, how long once this is done, will I need to wait until Plus net will have the option for me to upgrade to full fibre?

The connection Openreach have is 1600mb down and 150mb up, I know they don't give the full amount out to other ISP's (even though plusnet is BT). So likely 900mb down and decent amount on upload. Any thing will be better than what I have right now, not that its plusnets fault.

How long is a piece of string? There is no answer as to when it'll become available.

Has a CBT been installed on top of the pole?

On speed, do you actually need 900md down or would a lower speed suite your needs?

Best guess six months to a year. Might be more, could be a bit less.

I would take it as a point to consider in contract renewal but don't get too excired yet.

Doesn't really matter, just any will be better than what I have now.

I'm under the impression all the wiring and stuff is getting sorted out Tuesday to Friday.

My last post was fired off before I went out.

You need to see a CBT attached to the top of the pole. It looks like this - the number of ports depends on the number of houses it will serve.

Once the wiring is completed all the way back to the Main Exchange they test the circuit. If it passes it is passed to the commissioning team who bring the circuit live and you can order. You just need to keep an eye on your PN account or use the Checker to see when.

You don't need to wait for some of your images to be approved by the censor if you just link to one of your frequently repeated versions of the same ones, as alluded to in my reply to you a few days ago.

That's what you need to see.

Once the backbone wiring is complete they'll test the circuit by plugging a computer into one of the ports to ensure it works. Then it can be up to 10 working days for it to become available to order.

I would start checking on a daily basis - I expect OR will be busy with house installs in your area once it's available.

Oh the joys of working outdoors!!!!

Sounds like you're now on a daily check to see when FTTP becomes available.

You should also consider the FF offers on PN to see which one suites you - remember to think about the speed you actually need rather then going for a faster speed just for fun. You can always upgrade later - downgrading can only really be done at contract renewal time.

If you still have a phone it goes. If you want to keep the number you have 30 days to port it to a VOIP provider.
