Looking at going over to FTTP

Hi.
FTTP is now available for my house.
A fibre cable has not been installed to my house. Would this be done when I place an order for a FTTP package?
My home office is on the first floor of my house, would the engineer install the installation to the first floor?

@RogerGround Yes, the cable and associated CFP and ONT would be installed when the engineer attends, if you place an order.

Is your service an underground or overhead feed?

The entry point for the fibre cable would be at ground level and you would need to discuss your options with the engineer on the day.

Where it says WBC FTTP in the left hand column what does it say over to the right - Available or KCI2 or 1Stage?

Below the results window what does it say (exactly) about the FTTP install?

There is a certain leeway as to where the internal box (ONT) is installed. You just never know until it day.

However, if it can't be installed where you like the router is connected via ethernet cable so can go anywhere you'e happy to run cable.

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG premises served by 2.5 Inch plastic duct 56.

FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.

The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme

As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply

SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange

For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

For all SOADSL services, the stable line rate determined during the first 10 days of servic

A further quick note - the ONT must be within 1m of a power source.

Thanks for the information. When you look at these on a regular basis you learn to "read" them.

1 Stage means they expect to complete the install in one visit. KCI2 indicates a survey is required before install.

It confirms it's an underground feed with duct in place. No problems expected. When the backbone network is installed the engineers will quickly look at each property to see if there are any potential problems and make a note if they spot anything.

As previously stated you just don't know until the day what an engineer will agree to. A good one will always try and work with you. There is a certain leeway as to where the internal ONT goes.

The office where you want the install - is this on the same side of the house as the u/g copper feed to your property?

I know OR will only drill the one hole (if required), or do much of a cable run internally, especially if it involves bends/walls/w.h. y, but as the router can go anywhere an Ethernet cable can be run, if required, that shouldn't be an issue - but is up to the customer to sort, anyway.

That's workable. Straight up the wall, accross the top of the door and into the office.

The problem might be you get assigned an engineer who's not qualified to work at height and is not happy going up a ladder to any height and / or doesn't have the ladders requied..

You only fiind out on the day.

I have been trying to do "homework" for several weeks but have not got anywhere. All that seems to happen is that I get offered different packages.
It helps if you know which questions to ask and whom to ask them of.

I am not questioning the advice.
It is the potential wrangling with whom ever is sent to do the install. From some of the answers it sounds as if it can be hit or miss.
