There's anecdotal evidence out there about poor PPPoE performance with the Unify kit. Whether that is still the case with the UX7 I've no idea.

It wouldn't have been a problem with Sky, since AFAIK they wouldn't have been using PPPoE, but I'd be fairly sure that Zen would have been PPPoE ?

Hi All,

Looking for some pointers, we've had fttp running for 4 years, 2 years with Zen and then 2 years with sky.

It's been rock stable for those.4 years on 500meg. Now moved to Plusnet on a 900 meg and getting all sorts of instability- feels like the ping is jumping l, or I'm suffering packet loss. The line is syn ed at 900meg, speedtest shows I'm getting 900 down and 120 up so line.speed is there BUT day to day browsing is rubbish- page spends ages waiting to load then loads quickly etc etc large downloads download a block very quickly them pause for a while with high packet loss.

I've been using unifi kit on my fttp connection, but nothing has changed since moving to Plusnet. I don't use the Plusnet router but a unifi equivalent.

Please can anyone offer any advice l, it's driving us all bonkers!

What model Unifi are you using ?

Do you have IPv6 enabled on the WAN ? If so try disabling it

What DNS servers are you using ?

Do you get similar problems if you use the Plusnet router ?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply

Using UX7 as a gateway (along with 5 APs and a couple of new POE switches)

On the back of your email I have disabled IPv6 and set DNS to auto (i was using Google's DNS).

Only had the plusnet router plugged in for a short while- so i coulnd't tell you if a router change fixed it- i will see if any of the changes you suggested make a difference and swap the pluset router in if i'm still seeing problems.
