Private IP address

I have full fibre i have being doing trace routes using ping plotter and pingnoo they both find my router happily then find another private address a 172. I assume that this is the open reach box fixed to my wall I wondered if anybody could confirm this?

That 172 address is the 'gateway' address into the Plusnet network, nothing to do with the 'openreach' box.

Thanks so everybody has the same one then or does it vary by exchange? it just seems weird it showing as a private IP. I was just curious and could not see how to contact plusnet to ask them. Thanks again.

I suspect, but honestly don't know, as it is something I don't worry about, that there will be a number of these addresses for load balancing reasons, but it is nothing to be concerned about.

You could always ring Customer Support, but first-line staff probably know as much as you - much better to ask on here, where there are a number of knowledgable/experienced individuals.
