Full Fibre 3 floor house

I’m currently running fibre which is a struggle with the third floor let alone gaming up there! Would full fibre work better for the higher floors as well as gaming? Currently the lag is unreal! Tia!

@Misskbxoxo I would doubt it - that sounds more like a local (in your home) problem. How old is the house, what is its construction/size, and where is the Hub in relation to your 'problem' rooms?

I need to move if that’s the case 🤣 the house is 11 12 years old. Well narrow but long is all I can describe it as? The hub is on the ground floor as it needs the phone like to connect too.

No, you don't need to move 😀 - you just need to get your internal setup sorted. As I haven't had need to worry about this subject, I have little knowledge, but maybe others can help.

@Baldrick1 - is your useful guide still available - I can't see it?

By far the best solution and much more affordable since I wrote this guide, is to use mesh with an Ethernet backhaul.

The basic answer is that you need to use a router that has a bandwidth limiting feature on your existing connection,

which is something the Plusnet supplied routers don't do.

Is full fibre available to you? Use the following to check. You're looking for WBC FTTP is the left hand window and Available over to the right.

Given the property is 3 stories, I think you need to look at running ethernet cable upstairs. You could get someone in to run it externally if it's not possible to do it internally.

This world give you a clear starting point fo internet connections on each floor.

What model of Plusnet hub are you currently using ?

Is your gaming computer connected via ethernet cable, or WiFi ?

Try running the test mentioned in the video, to see what you're up against.

OK. But this doesn't mean copper landlines are being removed. If the broadband is being supplied by a copper landline it will still be supplied that way until the subscriber's premises have fibre installed, replacing the copper landline.
