Bufferbloat is very unlikely to be a Plusnet connection problem if your speed test results look correct.

@Sr444 wrote:

What can I do to fix this?

If you are determined to get a better bufferbloat grade to eliminate gaming latency, then you'll need to upgrade to a router that supports traffic management, usually described as QoS, SQM, Codel, or CAKE.

The very basic Plusnet router supplied with your contract, doesn't support any form of traffic management.

Note that a bufferbloat grade of "B" = latency increase up to 60ms, and grade "C" = latency increase up to 200ms.

I run pfSense software on my router to manage bufferbloat at grade "A+" (< 5ms), and my FTTC connection latency increase is typically 2ms or 3ms, even if all the PC's in my house are simultaneously doing Steam library updates and streaming HD YouTube -

Hi

Since “upgrading” contract from Fibre Extra to Fibre, online gaming is stuttering/lagging a lot.

I’ve checked tonight and have a bufferbloat score of B.

Gone back to the old/previous modem and still have a score of B.

Just re-ran and it is C.

What can I do to fix this?

Are you talking about Full fibre (FTTP) or Fibre Extra Unlimited (FTTC)?

"What can I do to fix this?"

buy a router with some kind of "Quality of Service" or similar outgoing traffic prioritisation.

The bufferbloat testing webites will suggest options (via affiliate links).

As to whether the change in your gaming experience is related to this, that's a different question.

The "usual suspects" are WiFi (if you want a decent connection use a cable) and domestic network performance (including contention with other devices).

My guess is that you won't regret getting a decent "gaming" router and there is a well developed market for such devices but it's by no means a certain fix.
