Thought I'd post in case others have an issue

Unfortunately when you're working from home that's not a useful answer. It went down a month ago for a short while, this time it's down for much longer. There is nothing wrong with people changing their DNS settings, either at the router level or on each device, it can always be put back, however as others have said when this happens frequently you can't expect people to wait for a fix.

Also why are you asking people not to change their DNS settings? What are you doing on your DNS servers that are different to Google and/or other free DNS providers?

My internet access conked out at about 16:20. I could ping IP addresses , but not web addresses, a sure sign of DNS issues.

Anyway, now running on Google DNS settings.

My daughter and ex-wife who are around 30 miles away have lost their connection so did I but my wife's, in the same house as me, is fine.

I changed to Google's DNS and it's back up. In fact, I'm not sure why I wasn't using Google's as that's usually the first thing I do on a new connection.

Edit: I changed DNS on PC

I would add for IT novices - my suggestion was to change DNS server IP on computer/device, not the router.
Mind you - not sure if it's possible on the router.
I don't know if it's easily possible on mobile devices.

I would update my original message - but option seems to be gone now.
