Yeah it started behaving, without anything having to be done.

Guess it was just one of those random internet things that start and stop without having to do anything.

Frequent disconnections.

For the last few days I have had several disconnections, that have mostly taken a minute or so for it to reconnect, apart from the one today at just after midnight, that took 20 or so minutes to reconnect.

I have checked the Openreach ONT when it has disconnected but it always has 3 green lights, So I don't think it is an issue with that (unless by the time it has disconnected and I notice, it has reconnected)

I am using a TP-Link ER605 (Firmware 2.2.2) as my router, I replaced the PlusNet Hub2 as back when I got my Full Fibre connection the PlusNet Hub2 would crash every 2 days and require a power cycle to get it working again.

I did try the Plusnet Hub2 again, as I noticed it had recived firmware updates since I had last used it, but I guess since the Hub2 has not been used for a while (10+ months), it had been removed from the system that supplys the Firmware upgrade, So I switched back to the ER605 as I would just be adding another issue into the mix since the Hub2 would just do the lock up\need power cycle thing every 2 days.

The issue is always the same when I look at the ER605 log.

It states the following (some info might be incorrect as the ER605 clears the logs if power cycled, and I done that tonight due to the long time in getting a working connection, And while the ER605 has a button to save the log file, it does not seem to do anything)

I always see the following when the disconnect happens:

PPPoE Session Ended (I think this is what it says, but if not it is something similar)

WAN: PPPoE began connecting automatically.

[router-mac-address]: PPPoE <myusername>@plusdsl.net failed to connect to the server because sending PADI times out.

(does above thing a few times, sometimes once before it connects, but after 3 attempts it goes back to PPPoE began stage)

It can repeat the above stage once or multiple times before it gets a connection where it just gives the usual networking technobabble.

WAN: PPPoE began connecting automatically.

WAN: PPPoE Discovery phase negotiation succeeded. (AC-MAC=mac-address-here, Session-ID=#x#x##)

WAN: LCP negotiation succeeded. (MTU=1492, AUTH=chap) (says this twice)

WAN: <myusername>@plusdsl.net authenticated.

Then a bunch of info about how it has connected and info about ip address, peer ip address and the DNS servers.

Is this something that I will need to get Plusnet to look into, as I have checked all the hardware\cables I own and found nothing wrong with them.

The only major thing of note that I have noticed is the person in the flat below me got a new router from his ISP, so I don't know if he is getting an upgrade or it was just a new router.

Only reason I am wondering if it might be related is on several occasions when his "ISP" has been doing stuff on his connection they have either attempted to take over my Internet Connection & phone line (back when I had one, multiple times), and a few times they mucked up my connection by moving my connection in the cabinet to a different port.

But that was back in the FTTC days, so I don't know if FTTP works in a similar way, and with how they have mucked me about several times, when I seen the new router, all the red flags were raised.

Did you fix your problem?

I have the same router on the same firmware level (2.2.2) and I’ve not had any issues.
