WiFi extenders will certainly use some of the WiFi band width impacting WiFi connection speeds, but that should not impact wired speeds. For the avoidance of doubt, when the device was Ethernet connected, was the WiFi turned off? Just because there’s a wire connected, if the WiFi is still turned on, there can be no certainty that the traffic is going over Ethernet.

I have upgraded from the 150 to 300 fttp package (for a reduction in cost).

My upload speed has risen from 25 to 50 mbs but I have had no increase in download speed (still 150 mbs).

Reading these forums I see it can sometimes help by switching the router off for half an hour.

I have done this but still no joy.

Any ideas?

having a gigabit port and being able to support that as wan to lan throughput are completely different!

Having said that the 3600 does claim to be capable of 800Mb throughput providing hardware nat is enabled and no QoS is used.

I'd suggest trying the direct pppoe test to eliminate the router as a possible problem

As you recently renewed your contract, have you considered asking Plusnet to send you a free Hub 2 for the cost of delivery £9.99. Call the customer options team on 0800 013 2632 during normal business hours. I think the Plusnet Hub 2 is an AC2100 (4x4) router powered by Broadcom dual core 1GHz ARM processor.

imho, one disadvantage of the Hub 2, is the wifi SSID for 2.4 and 5 GHz cannot use different names. From what I've seen posted on forum, the single name for both bands can cause problems for some devices.

fwiw, the TPlink Archer C80 or AX23 may be worth considering at the low budget end of the market for use with Full Fibre 300.

Buy a router from a retailer that has a good 30 days refund policy in case you encounter issues.
