wired connection slower than wifi

Hi To everyone

I have noticed my wired connection is slower than my wifi.

im on the 500mbs contract.

recently I have renewed all ethernet cables to cat 6 and have had a new hub2 sent , but still have the same issue when I connect ( wired) to a lap top I am only getting 95mbs tops when I run a speed test.

I have purchased an ethernet cable tester from Amazon , tested all the cables and they are fine.

any ideas anybody please ? thanks.

What make and model is the laptop? and do you know what network card (NIC) it has?

It may be that the NIC is only 100Mb capable OR is set to 100Mb

the lap top is an asus Quad Turbo 2023. ive only had it 6 weeks , so its quite new and modern I guess.

That doesn't have a built in Ethernet port, does yours or are you using a USB adaptor?

Mine has an ethernet port , it was one of the reasons for buying it so I can work properly from home when required.

If you open up a windows power shell you can use the following command to identify the NIC manufacturer and link speed

Get-NetAdapter | select interfaceDescription, name, status, linkSpeed
