@dvorak good to know the grandstream works. I have one of those ATA’s and despite following sipgate’s recommended configuration options I could not get it registered. I then tried the softphone on the PC to cut the ATA out of the loop and I still can’t get it to register and the softphone says “no internet connection” which is not true of course. So I think it’s my router hence the question. If the Hub 2 works with an ATA & sipgate then it won’t be a leap into the dark.

Did you have to alter any configuration options on the HD812 other 5an those specified by sipgate?

Has anyone gone FTTP and successfully connected an Analogue Telephone Adapter (ATA) to the Plus Net router for use with a Sipgate VOIP account?

Reason for asking is I know some routers are temperamental and will not play nice with such services. Like my Archer VR2800 for example which I have failed to get to work with Sipgate over my existing FTTC connection.

There are a number of people on here ( myself included ) who have Sipgate working with the Hub 2. I use a Gigaset dect ip phone but I know of at least one who uses an ATA.

I'm surprised you can't get sipgate working with the vr2800, did you turn off the SIP ALG ? That's the usual cause, many routers have broken sip algs and disabling them is usually best

I have FTTP and a Grandstream HT-812 ATA with Sipgate.
That's using a Hub 2.

Yes I turned SIP ALG off. No joy. Even the sipgate softphone on my windows 10 pc won’t register never mind using an ATA.

I was hoping to voip working before going FTTP so I would know any issues were not due to a duff voip configuration or whatever but the TP link archer 2800 isn’t playing.

To get it to register with Sipgate I just used their config, however I applied the settings here https://www.ukvoipforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=1061 (with thanks to @MisterW who pointed them out to me) to get the correct UK setup.
It's working fine with caller id and call blocking etc.

Well it wasn’t the router after all but my Sipgate user ID. The one generated by sipgate ended e0 as they all do I believe when you generate your first user ID but the zero was represented by a Ø character. Copy and paste that and it ends up as the character 0.

So I generated a new user ID which ended in 1. I used that with a Zoiper 5 softphone and bingo I can make and receive calls. I probably would not have spotted this had I not used Zoiper because it gave a more detailed error report than the sipgate softphone and said I was getting an error 401 authentication error. On the sipgate help pages it suggests fixing a 401 error by generating a new password and/or user ID if you are sure you entered the correct values and you still can’t log in. A new password didn’t work but a new user ID did so I am convinced it’s that strange zero and how it got copied across was the culprit. Probably a different character set.
