Connected but IPv4 not connected

Hi,

My router PlusnetV2 is connected, the computer is connected (I am using this computer to send this), I can stream, watch stuff, download, browse etc.

IPv4 and 6 are both not connected in Ethernet status so launchers for rockstar for example will not connect and show offline. Although steam connects and shows no problems. Edit: I can ping the router and google

I am sure is it the computer, I have done the things suggested online from the command line ip flush dns flush, updated the network driver, but nothing has changed.

If anyone has an idea? Thank you so much in advance!!

Pv4 and 6 are both not connected in Ethernet status

Do you have a defective Static IP configuration or DNS entries that belong to another ISP ?

Do you have an issue with the computer having been blocked from access to the router ?

Thank you Philip,

I have tried both static and automatic IP and DNS.

I can connect to the router from the computer and there are no rules for blocking gateways or firewalls past the default.

As far as I know nothing has changed with the computer, everything I can do as normal except for things like Rockstar launcher cannot connect.

I have uninstalled chrome recently

How is your computer gaining access to the router if both IPv4 and 6 are both not connected in Ethernet status ?

Is there some other network route such as via a WI-Fi or USB Adaptor perhaps or a VPN ?

Unknown!

I can stream from twitch etc, type this, browse but IPv4 and 6 are not connected. Steam works fine also.

I can ping the router and google, connect to the router.

It is only ethernet cable, no wifi. There is no VPN or USB connections. If I disable the Ethernet, my internet stops so its definitely only ethernet.

@SleazyPMartini IPv6 will not show as connected - Plusnet have not yet implemented it for public release, although it is under trial.

It sounds more to me like a program issue rather than 'the computer'.

Where does it say IPv4 is not connected?

Status from the ethernet connection, ipv4 and 6 not connected.

diagnose : your computer is correctly configured but the device or resource is not responding.

DNS for Plusnet is

Primary DNS: 212.159.13.49
Secondary DNS: 212.159.14.49

from the router status I have

Secondary DNS: 212.159.6.9

I have tried to change secondary dns to the correct 14.49 in IPv4 config in the router interface and restarted both router and computer but everything is the same

PS server status is good for rockstar

Ignoring the DNS for the moment, as you are obviously connected, can you attach a picture of that page to a reply, please?

You must have IPv4 connected, otherwise you would be able to reach this forum - or anywhere else on the internet.

While you are at it, assuming you are using a Windows OS, can you post the output of a tracert to the offending site?

Is the IPv4 and IPv6 connected status reported by the Rockstar Launcher?

Some launchers and android phones use a specific IP address and if they can't connect to that they can report this although connectivity to other sites is fine.

...14.49 is not a valid seconday Plusnet DNS server, its ...13.50

The full list of Plusnet DNS servers is here https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/about-dns-server-and-website-settings/

However, leaving the DNS servers as default in the Hub 2 is probably the best option.

@cpc6128 no, the status is on the network status on my computer.

I maybe barking up the wrong tree, but I don't understand how IPv4 is not connected but I can do all the usual things bar connect to rockstar social, I have not tried anything else atm.

@SleazyPMartini It is. It appears the servers after line 13 don't like responding, which I recall somewhere in the dim and distant past we had a problem with. I can't remember if the issue was ever fixed though.

Windows network will show 'not connected' if Windows fails to connect to some specific sites which it uses to try and determine if it is connected to the internet, www.msftconnecttest.com, is one, it will then report 'not connected' if these fail, however other sites can still work as the test just means those ones it tested could not be connected to.

So this can explain why it says 'not connected' but you can use many sites.

I think as you have done already a traceroute might identify the issue as you say Rockstars service status says all is good.

I assume "Rockstar" is https://www.rockstargames.com/ - which I can connect to OK. Suggests there is some kind of network routing issue, like we have seen before from time to time.

Do you know for certain what DNS server your PC is using? If using Windows then click on Window::Network Connections

Click on Network adaptor::Status::Details...

Should show the IPv4 DNS Server's IP address.

are you able to tether this pc to a mobile phone which is using mobile data?

This will prove your pc or a network issue

EDIT why are you using an incorrect dns ip address
