My static IP address dropped yesterday (13 Dec) after power cycling the modem and router due to disconnecting a power adapter.

Additionally, we moved house and our service was re-instated at the new address on 3rd December, with our old static IP successfully being assigned and in use up until the power cycle yesterday.

I contacted support today to be assured that in fact a new static IP had been assigned (see question #252050510), however I remained unconvinced by this, as the IP assigned reports back as being from your dynamic address pool (dyn.plus.net), which I believe would not be used for a static assignment.

To check, I then decided to power down the modem, and router for 10 minutes, restarting the modem, waiting for the lights to cycle, and then powered up the router.

It appears a new dynamic IP was assigned. A quick disconnect via the router, and reconnect resulted in another IP assignment.

Can you advise how to get my old static IP reassigned to my connection? I can still see it assigned to my Plusnet username when looking up the reverse hostname via the static IP address.

Many thanks!

Heya @emodder,

I have had a look at your account and managed to get your original static IP working again. If you reboot your router, it will be assigned.

Awesome, Thanks @Marsh, it's back!

Just to understand, did the house move process ultimately cause a detachment even though it worked initially when the engineer set things up?

@emodder

Ultimately yes, when the house move was completed on your account, which is normally 24 hours after your connection goes live at your new address, it caused your static ip on your account to become inactive. It's an easy fix from our side, where we refresh some components on your account, and it should resolve it. However, the agent refreshed the wrong component, although it should not happen after a house move if I get more examples of it happening, I am going to get it raised with our team so they can investigate

There have been lots of examples over the last 12 months - ask @Gandalf / @plusnettony / @dave

Existing static IP addresses can become disassociated on house moves, switch to FTTP and in some cases FTTC to SoGEA switches. There are lots of reports here and on the BB / FF boards.
