End of contract and moving home

My contract with Plusnet ends on July 19th.
Will be moving sometime in the next couple of months but don't where so can't start a new contract.Told by Plusnet that rolling monthly service would cost in excess of £50.00 per month which I can't afford.
Can anyone help please with suggestions or cheaper options?

@Willow6 Why not start a new contract with PN at your current home and then do a 'house move' - I would be amazed if you can't get a Plusnet service at wherever you move to?

I would normally do this but I could be moving to a retirement home some of which have their own internet system which is included in the rent.

Could you work with mobile data? I noticed that Three was offering unlimited broadband for (I think) about £20 per month. You would need a decent signal of course. I considered it for someone but the speed wasn't fast enough for a full-time internet connection.

A good friend of mine uses a 4G router and he's very pleased with the performance, but it does depend on your usage.

You can get 30 day rolling contracts, used 4g modems are available online, you could sell it once you've finished using it

Was with 3 which was useless.,. changed to EE which is not much better and non existent at times EE is supposed to be the best for this area and this is supported by the link you sent. ,it does state that good. reception is likely outdoor only

4g modem/routers can have improved wireless performance due to the external antenna compared to a mobile phone.

Keep trying to thank Longliner but it keeps ending up in wrong place! Obviously doing something wrong but don't know what.

You're welcome, my sympathies as we had the same problem though we use phone network only. Eventually I bought a few throwaway SIM cards to test each network's signal at home, don't trust the maps. Vodafone was out for a start, no signal at all around here. Three was good until they put their charges skyhigh a couple of years back. Lebara offers good deals but they piggyback on Vodafone so useless.

The EE sim gives five bars but we're not paying EE/BT prices so we're with 1pMobile -- excellent service via EE network with accounts, call charges and duration listed, accounts clearly laid out, no contract, etc. The lo-costs offer data deals but we don't need them.

I have decided to cancel my Plusnet service.Should I do it now or wait until my contract ends on July 19th?

You should cancel immediately. Cancellation requires 14 days notice. Note that the end of a fixed term contract does not mean that the service ends on that date, it just continues at the out of contract rate. Consequently, by cancelling today you will still be charged for 8 days at the out of the contract rate. This will be in the form of a full month at the out of contract rate, with a refund when the contract is closed in several weels time.
