I have some webspace with my plusnet broadband account, but I have basically stopped using this, as the only way to update the pages is by using insecure unencrypted ftp.

Does anyone know if it will be possible to use secure ftp to update webpages after the migration to Greenby?

Greenby Ltd,(who themselves have no hosting for webmail or webspace) is in turn hiving off Plusnet services to HostPresto! Who certainly have FTP facilities..

Hi, Read the greenby webpage faq and terms and conditions its all in there. Greenby are the middle men, the fixers.

Here is the sucker punch

With your explicit consent, we may contact you via email about other products and services that we feel are relevant and in your legitimate interest. You may opt out of these emails at any time by contacting us or via the client’s account area on the HostPresto! Website.

HostPresto! use marketing features where third-party vendors (including Google) display our adverts on websites and use cookies based on a user’s prior visits to the HostPresto! website.

All your data is harvested by Gteenby, HostPresto and Google (on the 27th. May, My phone blocked no less than 1493 trackers from google)! We process your data in this way to assist us in collecting statistical information on the HostPresto! website and to determine the performance of our advertisement strategies. This process may also capture data in relation to age, gender and interests. It would appear that your mail details are being relocated to Datacentre in Kent (Maidstone),

All those migrating without bothering too much and those who have aleady been entering their details into the Greenby website repeat after me - Baa - Baa -Baa! Or should that be "The silence of the Lambs).

Lastly, I see that the "manage my email" settings have now vanished from the Plusnet website where all that is available is "Webmail" I really can't update this prehistoric monster as it still shows me logged in to a non-existant web address! You just can't delete extinct aliases and expect it to update, can you?

There are no plans to implement ssl on the basic web hosting

@plusnettony I'm not sure that's the question that @simonc2 was asking. He's asking if Greenby will support sftp to access the hosting account to update webspace.

ICBW but my 'guess' is that the answer is yes, since its supported by one of their other brands , Ecohosting.

https://support.ecohosting.co.uk/knowledgebase/article/using-ssh-sftp
