Hi,

Took out a new Plusnet connection in June 2023 with a static ip address and then moved house in December 2024 remaining with Plusnet. So it's a new 2 year contract and I was promised the static ip would remain the same (along with Plusnet account name and password).

As I try to diagnose some issues this week, it seems the cause is IP address has changed. I know new contracts no longer have a static ip option, but shouldn't existing ones remain?

I've seen other similar posts and resolutions with fixes made, so can someone assist me too?

Thanks
David.

@pn_davidr Hi there, House move orders a tricky one for the static IP as most of the components attached to your plusnet account are either refreshed or reconfigured.

Ultimately if you remember your static IP from your old address, i can submit a task to our netops team to switch the static IP back to the old one.

If you DM me the old static IP you're wanting and your plusnet username, ill get this task raised for you.

All the best

@Windings is it the case that the IP address has actually changed to a different static IP ?

or the known problem that its erroneously reverted to a dynamic IP on an account change and the account just needs a 'refresh' of the static IP component to get the static back ?

If you are not able to , then perhaps @Baldrick1 could confirm whether the OP was posting from a static IP

It's reported as a dynamic BT address.

Thanks @Baldrick1 , Ah! so not a PN address at all then ?

Maybe @pn_davidr can confirm whether the new IP is still static or is now a dynamic one ( check the rDNS )

Sorry, I have been away for a couple of days and obviously left my brain behind on my way home.

I checked @Windings IP address. That used by @pn_davidr to post was not a BT group one.
